The horses found among the nomadic Bedouin possessed certain common physical traits regardless of their particular strain or family. Those who survived to maturity all had the unmistakable look of an enduring athlete and warrior.

The Desert Bred Arabian is exceedingly intelligent, very gentle, tolerant and proud. He is a partner, a teammate and a friend. He is a zealous comrade possessing great spirit, fire, energy, and the willingness necessary to attain excellence. He is a family member, protector and a most unique companion. Desert Type, then, is described as a certain physical appearance or conformation which generally promotes exceptional athletic ability and the propensity to perform at a championship calibre level. Furthermore, he has the unusual disposition, even inclination to be interdependent with man.
